My name is Stephanie. I’m the proud mom of 2 teenage boys (both are taller than me as of this summer) – Peter (17) and Tommy (15). If you’ve visited my site before, you may have seen the very light-hearted version of my ‘about me’. While this is still light-hearted, I’ve decided to bare a little more of my soul to let you know who I am, what and why I do what I do and lastly, why we may be a good fit!
I’ve been taking pictures forever. When I was in elementary school, I took a photography class at our local community center with my instamatic camera in hand. I still remember the pictures that I took – they were black and whites of my little brothers hot wheels on top of our brick mailbox – I think I was creating a mini community. Not my best work, but a start. Photography and creativity is in my genes. Many members of my family are in creative fields, so although this wasn’t the path that I anticipated, it definitely all makes sense.
About 15 years ago, my life changed dramatically I needed to get to work. I sat with some girlfriends and did a brainstorming session on a paper napkin. One of them suggested photography… I really couldn’t believe at that point that anyone would pay me to do something that I already loved but had no formal training in. Well, it started there and I’ve never looked back.
Recently, a potential client came in and asked “what is your philosophy?”
I have to admit that I was taken a little off guard although I loved that he asked the question because it really made me put some thought into it. My philosophy and the reason that I continue to photograph people is that I believe that through pictures, we are creating family treasures for generations to come. I am so honored that clients (I prefer to call them friends) trust me enough to bring me in to their most intimate zone – their family. I have so much respect for the huge privilege that I’m given as the person who is capturing these moments for them. Whatever the session involves, I will honor the privacy and do my utmost to make it a positive and easy experience for all of us. The best compliment at the end of a session is to hear how painless it was!
I have a true passion for what I do and feel like my strengths lie in the connections that I make with my subjects. I love working with kids, and families and I also love doing portraits – whether it’s for your professional site, your fb, linkedin or just for fun.
If you have any questions, please ask! If you’re considering pictures in your future, I would love to chat about the possibilities! I mainly work on location, although I do have a small studio in Montrose, CA where I do some portrait work. I would also love to start traveling more to do sessions outside of the LA area, so if you like what you see, let’s talk! And if you’re in the neighborhood, come by and say hi!
